In 2010 the UF Department of Urology, in partnership with the UroGators Alumni Society initiated and completed a permanently endowed visiting professorship through a successful fund-raising campaign.
This past year, a similar fund-raising campaign was initiated to complete the endowment of a research professorship in the name of Birdwell Finlayson, MD, PhD. His former residents, fellows and current and past faculty members rose to the occasion and raised nearly $200,000 to top $1 million and establish the permanent endowed professorship.
This is a tribute not only to the memory of Dr. Finlayson, but also to the heritage and history of UF Urology. The endowed research professorship further reflects the focus and dedication of its leaders and the loyalty of its graduates. It emphasizes the UroGators commitment in helping propel UF Urology in its pursuit as a leading urology center and residency program in the Southeast.
